Dr. Alyson Smith:

Who we are
Dr. Alyson Smith is a HPC registered, Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in addictive behaviours and substance dependence. She has over ten years of clinical (NHS) and research experience in this field. She has worked within the NHS offering assessments and psychological interventions to individuals with a range of drug/alcohol dependence issues, audit and service evaluation, supervision and specialist training (e.g. psychosocial interventions). She now divides her time between private clinical practice (Cardiff and Carmarthen) and a senior lectureship at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff.
She is treasurer of the British Psychological Society's Faculty of Addiction, reviews journal articles for the Jounal of Substance Use and grant proposals for the Alcohol Education and Research Council. She has been an invited speaker at a number of national conferences in the field of substance use and has a track record of peer reviewed publications in the field.
