Hanna Elan Thomas:
Who we are
Hanna is a PhD candidate at the Department of Psychology, Swansea University. Her doctoral research investigates the impact of bilingualism on cognitive processing in ageing. She has a strong research interest in the complex nature of Welsh-English bilingualism and its impact on neuropsychological test performance. Hanna is also a strong advocate for the rights of Welsh individuals in the context of providing primary care services through the medium of Welsh.
She graduated from Swansea University with a first class honours BSc Psychology degree in 2017 and obtained a distinction in her MSc Abnormal & Clinical Psychology degree in 2018.
Her clinical duties at Talis include reading and summarising medical records, conducting behavioural observations, administering psychometric tests, scoring assessments, delivering training sessions alongside clinical supervisors and participating in MDT meetings.
She has been involved with many volunteering positions in the past. These included:
Listener for the Samaritans
Befriender at the Alzheimer's Society
Mental Health and Well-Being Project at Cefn Coed Psychiatric Hospital
Orientation Buddy for a student with ASC conditions.
Royal Voluntary Service (lunch club for elderly people).
